Despite US Disapproval, Europe Eyes a Greater Role in the Indo-Pacific

I highlight fissures in European states over how to respond to U.S. demands that Europe focuses on Europe. France, Germany, and the European Union, in particular, seem unlikely to believe U.S. assurances that the United States will sufficiently defend European interests in the Indo-Pacific and continue to pursue their own engagement with Indo-Pacific partners.
